05 / MY FRONT GARDEN

“Stop fooling
yourself!”

A spiritual nudge. A bank holiday. And a front garden I had been avoiding for months.

I sat ready to do one of my clients zen garden chronicles when Spirit said,

“tek yourself inna that front garden and clean out that place and stop fooling yourself!”

You know when you can see something and your body knows this is ganna hurt.

I had been avoiding it for months and now it had overgrown and was blocking out light. I can’t be avoiding my own work for anything these days internal or external imma handle it when I get a spiritual nudge. Whatever plans I had I had to wrap it up.

When I started I realised exactly why I was avoiding it. This front garden requires regular maintenance because Lord have mercy it’s hard work!!

Now because I’m learned and my ears aren’t hard, I set a calendar reminder because I will never ever labour that hard another bank holiday. I shoulda been dancing and gwannin Bad up Notting Hill.

LESSON LEARNED

My ears
aren’t hard.

“I set a calendar reminder because I will never ever labour that hard another bank holiday.”

From my front-garden archive · So much growing.
Someone else’s front garden, photographed by me years ago.

THE INSPIRATION CAME YEARS EARLIER

The picture
I kept.

I took this photograph of someone’s front garden years ago. The white gate. The arch. All that green.

It stayed with me — and inspired me years later.

An inspiration photograph from my own archive.
